Early Life and Education
Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was born on December 9, 1979, in Ihima, Kogi State, Nigeria. She is the second of four children and the only daughter of a Nigerian father, Dr. Jimoh Abdul Akpoti, and a Ukrainian mother, Ludmila Kravchenk.
Akpoti-Uduaghan had her early education at St. Mary’s Convent School, Lokoja, Kogi State. She then proceeded to the University of Abuja, where she obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree in 2004. After graduating from law school, she was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2005.
Career
Akpoti-Uduaghan began her career as a legal practitioner. She worked with several law firms before establishing her own law firm, Natasha Akpoti & Associates. She is also the founder of Builders Hub Impact Investment Program (BHIIP), a non-profit organization that provides training and empowerment programs for young people and women.
Politics
Akpoti-Uduaghan has always been passionate about politics and social justice. She entered politics in 2019 when she contested for the Kogi Central senatorial district seat on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). She lost the election, but she continued to advocate for good governance and social justice in Kogi State.
In 2023, Akpoti-Uduaghan contested for the Kogi Central senatorial district seat again, this time on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). She won the election and was subsequently sworn in as a senator on November 2, 2023.
Husband and Children
Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is married to Emmanuel Uduaghan, the Alema of Warri. They got married in March 2022. They have a son together, who was born in August 2023.
