Former Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola Attributes Political Success to Bola Tinubu and Muhammadu Buhari
The immediate-past Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, attributes his achievements and success in politics to the crucial roles that President Bola Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari played in his life. Speaking at a civic reception organised in his honour in Oyo town, Oyo State, Aregbesola expressed his profound gratitude towards the two leaders, acknowledging that their support laid the foundation for his political career.
In his Recognition and Praises
Aregbesola began by recognizing those who mentored him in Lagos, facilitated his emergence in Osun, and made it possible for him to accomplish the various achievements that are being celebrated in Oyo. He specifically mentioned Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and former President Buhari as the key figures who paved the way for his success. According to Aregbesola, without their support, it would have been extremely difficult for him to attain the heights he has reached and provide the services that have garnered commendation and appreciation from the people.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Muslim Community, Kunle Sanni, conveyed his admiration for Aregbesola’s contributions to the state during his tenure as Minister of Interior. Sanni highlighted projects such as the passport front office and fire service facilities as significant interventions that have positively impacted the community. He expressed the joy of the Muslim community in associating with Aregbesola.
In addition to Sanni’s commendation, two esteemed academics delivered lectures during the event. Professor Sarafadeen Kareem from the Federal University of Agriculture, Ogun State, and Associate Professor Abass Alade from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, spoke on the topics “The Stewardship of a True Servant” and “To Whom Much is Given, Much is Expected,” respectively. Both lecturers encouraged Aregbesola to continue serving humanity diligently and emphasized the importance of remaining grateful to Allah for his enduring success.
The Amir of Jamatul Tawunn Muslimeen and the Grand Mufti of Yorubaland, Edo, and Delta, Daud Molaasan, stated that the primary purpose of the programme was to celebrate Aregbesola’s commitment to Islam and his steadfastness in politics.
The Basorun of Oyo kingdom, High Chief Yusuf Olayinka, represented the Oyomesi-in-Council and expressed deep appreciation to the former minister for the tremendous development he brought to the town. Various dignitaries attended the event, including the acting Chief Imam of Oyo, Sheikh Abdullateef Abdulazeez; former Secretary to State Government, Osun State, Moshood Adeoti; Federal Commissioner representing Osun in the National Population Commission, Senator Mudashiru Hussain; former All Progressives Congress Chairman in Osun, Lowo Adebiyi; clerics; members of the Oyomesi; political stakeholders, and other eminent Nigerians.
