 Nigeria Customs Service Promotes 357 Personnel in Recognition of Excellence

The Nigeria Customs Service has officially approved the promotion of 357 personnel, spanning from Customs Assistant I to Inspector of Customs. This decision was reached during the 7th management meeting of the NCS, presided over by the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi.

The National Public Relations Officer of the service, Abdullahi Maiwada, made the announcement in a statement issued on Saturday. The promotion list covers both General Duty and Support Staff personnel who demonstrated exceptional performance in the 2023 promotion exercise.

Maiwada provided a breakdown of the promoted officers, indicating that 246 officers moved from Assistant Inspector of Customs (AIC) to Inspector of Customs (IC) in the General Duty category, while 37 officers moved from AIC to IC in the Support Staff category. Additionally, 39 officers were promoted from Customs Assistant I (CAI) to AIC in General Duty, 27 from CAI to AIC in Support Staff, 7 from Customs Assistant II (CAII) to CAI in Support Staff, and 1 from Customs Assistant III (CAIII) to CAII in General Duty.

The comprehensive promotion list reflects the visionary leadership of the CGC, emphasizing motivation, recognizing excellence, and rewarding diligence within the service, according to Maiwada.

In his congratulatory message to the newly promoted officers, CGC Adewale Adeniyi urged them to redouble their efforts in fulfilling the core mandates of the Nigeria Customs Service, including revenue generation, suppression of smuggling, and trade facilitation. This promotion is seen as a strategic move to motivate and encourage dedicated service among the customs personnel.
